Hanna Grace has put aside her upbeat jazzy tendencies for now
Laid back and light-hearted Hanna teams up once again with co-writer Phil Stoodley to release their first duet 'In The Rain'.
Her first release since her debut album ‘Concrete & Roses’ shows a softer side to the singer/songwriter and marks the beginning of a newfound musical style. In The Rain’s folk inspired paired back arrangement gives the song a subtle charm and realness that can’t help but make you smile.
Hanna Grace is a New Zealand born singer songwriter who first graced us with her talented vocals in 2011 with her debut album Concrete & Roses; an eclectic pop album featuring upbeat jazzy songs like first single Red Lips and Hush Now to more bluesy songs like City Alibi and Nothing at all.
Her rare, intimate live gigs have been much talked about, and with In The Rain she comes one step closer to a new found musical style.
“In The Rain, is a song about patience. It’s a light hearted ballad about allowing time to pass and keeping faith that one day the troubles you face will be a distant memory that you will eventually laugh about.”
“Its about not taking life too seriously and getting caught up on the little things. Its funny because you can get so upset about something and later look back on it and wonder why you were so affected – time heals everything I guess.” she says.
To compliment the paired back style of In The Rain, Hanna Grace teamed up with director Miles Murphy to create an honest laid-back video.
“Miles suggested that we recorded an intimate live performance of the song with close friends. He grabbed a few camera’s and shot us performing the song twice at the beginning and end of a gig at Mondials.”
“We shot the video literally only days after we first performed the song together so it was a bit of a challenge getting the timing right. However it turned into an amazing night with impromptu jam sessions with the crowd after the gig so was well worth the initial nerves.” She laughs.
In The Rain marks the beginning of a new and exciting musical style with another single set to be released January 2013.
