From the legendary Baby Rasta y Gringo to Tego Calderon, Hiphop and the Spanish language have had a marriage longer than popular music gives credit. Fortunately, for record labels and distributors alike this relationship will continue to grow and in the end the name Styla J (Jason Perez) will stand out. Styla J has meshed the traditional rhythms of his Dominican Republic homeland with the streets of New York City to create a unique sound with an edge necessary to bring a relatively new market to groundbreaking heights. He’s a spokespeople for a large and continuously growing Dominican-American community looking for his representation in the world of Bachata and Spanish Hip Hop, as well as becoming household names with the Latin American market as a whole. Styla J’s personal life has been marred with many trials and tribulations. Born in Brooklyn, NY, 1986. Styla began his music at the age of 15 years old and what started the urge was very interesting. Seeing the challenges his parents faced in this country, family problems, the poor condition of the street and the everyday problems is which inspired him to produce music that could touch the lives of others. Styla J at age 18, decided to submit a demo of three songs to an independent Record company but the results were unfavorable. He was refused, however, Styla did not give up. Further determined by what happened, he used this situation as a fuel for the engine of his career. Despite all this, Styla J mentions inertia motivation put forward in his movement.

He began Directing/Producing/Editing his own music videos, taking matters in his own hands. Styla successfully appeared on CNN Español summer of 2011 for his unique spot he marked in the independent market. Namely three things that inspires him, are his parents, his beloved diseased grandmother, and the desire to be able to help people with musical messages. Styla J Who is he? An artist, composer, and producer of all genres of music, including but not limited to Reggaeton, Hip-hop, R & B, Pop, and Bachata. Some influences of Styla J as an artist Drake, Eminem, and Marc Antonio Solis. Styla J is ready and determined to do what it takes to be a Music icon for the world.
